September Tokaj delicacies to get the tastebuds watering!

Guest of honour was János Pisak, grape and vine enthusiast who braved wet vineyards to bring us all manner of varieties of table grapes...and sold out quickly :)

And more...

The Sárga Borház menu was based around János's grapes...

including this gorgeously designed take on rice pudding with grapes...

A new arrival from the Ambrozsoky smallhollding... The long-awaited feta!

and mozzarella with fresh herbs and brie from Kisgömböc....
And my favourite breakfast of all ... yoghurt with homemade strawberry jam from Sándor Bodnár

And two more autumn favourites: quince

 And peppers

It made us happier than this guy...

Sun smiles on Celebration of the Flowering Vine

And what better way to arrive to a handcraft market than by bike in gorgeous summer sun...

to inspect the flowering vine (and imagine what the vintage of 2014 may promise)

Before chilling out on the terrace in the shade of the chestnut trees after some intense shopping ...

Or having a little dance,

Or pony ride through the vineyard...

Or a moment in music

And admiring all forms of flowers...

Kati created some wonderful arrangements...

Thanks - as always - to László and his colleagues at Szerencsi TV for all their time, wonderful photos and videos of the market :)

Celebration of the flowering grape

Thre are many moments in the year that remind us of the cyclical nature that surrounds us. In the Tokaj Wine Region the grape flowering is certainly among these key events. Visitors to the Tokaj-Hegyalja Market this Sunday 8th June will have the chance to see the spectacular vine flowers in various stages of maturity...
And it's an exciting weekend to be in the region with the St Elisabeth Days in Sárospatak and the Tokaj Wine Festival in, maybe not unsurprisingly, Tokaj! Not forgetting the Cooper's Days in Erdőbénye too!

In spite of the rain... design was not only "on the table"

It was abundant on the umbrellas - and this pretty much sums up the picture for the first couple of hours...

But, luckily, whoever would have imagined there are so many kinds of umbrellas in the world?!

And...

The camera even catches the drips at the tent of Sanyi Bodnár and his wife's tent, master and mistress of cheeses in Mád...

But that does not deter the faithful. Look at the queue! People came to this market for a short intense burst of shopping. Most of these are regulars who know what they want, know what they like, and will come whatever the weather, snow or ice, so what's a little water from the skies?!

There were photos of warmer days, the exhibition of pictures in the series, "Through the eyes of a winemaker"

The Sárga Borház special menu was enough to warm up any soul... and remind them - with jazz ...

that it's early summer!
Cream of asparagus soup

and more lovely "designer asparagus" (delicious with Disznókő Furmint Dry by the way)

And for those with a sweeter tooth...

And by early afternoon the rain clouds had moved on, leaving people umbrella free!
